Data circuit terminal equipment ( DCE ; in English, Data Communication Equipment or Data circuit-terminating equipment [DCE]) is an element allowing the connection of DTE terminals (data processing terminal equipment) to the data transmission channel.
This connection generally requires a signal adaptation which will be carried out by a DCE. DCEs make it possible to adapt the data flow to the conditions of the line and to carry out the analog-to-digital or digital-to-analog transformation.
